It feels as if I have been raving about a lot of products this month. But what is a blog if not to share the best-of-the-best finds with you all? So let me start off by saying that the ZERO Waste Shampoo Bars are one of my favourite finds of 2019.

What is it? The ZERO Waste Shampoo Bar is a proudly South African, water-free, plastic-free and cruelty-free shampoo in a bar form. There are one or two brands that already offer this novelty product, but the ZERO bars are in a league of their own. For one, the price. One of these will set you back R75. CHEAPER than a bottle of shampoo! And one bar will last you between 55 and 70 washes.

I cannot vouch for the amounts of washes part considering I have only used mine 6 times. What I can vouch for is that since opening the ZERO bar, I have not used any other shampoo and conditioner. Do you know what a big deal that is?

My main concern was that it is a shampoo bar, not a conditioner bar. So surely your locks would feel brittle? Because I have curly hair (I know, you would never be able to tell!), my hair regime has to be VERY nourishing and softening.

My favourite things to do are: clean, enrich, moisturise, condition, shine, strengthen, nourish, soothe and repair.

Thankfully – and again, I am being serious here – this works perfectly. I assumed I would have to apply a conditioner afterwards (which defies the point of the bar) but for review purposes I decided against it for the first use. And now, 6 uses down the line, I have used the bar and the bar alone on my hair. No following with conditioner.

Because the bars are so long-lasting, I passed two along and kept two for myself. The ones I kept are Desert Melon (yellow) and Moringa (green) but the remaining two that I passed along were given great reviews too. I also used the shampoo bars as a shaving tool, to lather onto my legs and underarms prior to shaving and again, it worked beautifully.

Basically, to end off this glowing review, I can 100% attest to the fact that you have nothing to worry about regarding the shampoo bar replacing your shampoo and conditioner. This was by far the most commonly asked Q and main concern when I chatted about these on Instagram. I have coarse, belly-button length, wavy to curly  hair. If this can cleanse as well as nourish and hydrate my locks, then you can plan to be impressed too!
