The Clinique Three Step Skincare.  Everyone knows about this beloved three step routine. You can’t miss it if you walk into any Edgars store.

I have mentioned before how I do not have bad skin acne wise; I have never suffered with spots or pimples, blackheads or whiteheads. But since I hit my twenties I do struggle with it dryness and tightness. I also have the kind of skin that quickly becomes accustomed to a skincare routine and starts to retaliate once I have used the same routine for a few weeks. Therefore I am constantly having to change it up.

I was given this three step set and I was actually quite chuffed because a year or two ago I used a “luxe sample” set which gave three days worth of testers of the cleanser, the toner and the moisturiser and I really liked it. I just did not need such an indepth (or pricey) skin care routine at the time so I never went out and bought it.

First off is the Liquid Facial Soap. I know they have three different types differentiating between dry skin, oily skin and combination skin and I obviously cannot speak for the other two but, while this is pretty much a normal liquid facewash, it definitely ticks the boxes that I look for which are; does not leave your face feeling tight and super dry after a use; it is not super foamy or not foamy at all, it’s the perfect foaminess; you can basically just apply it for as long as you feel like and then was it off. There is no “leave on for 15 minutes to one hour for best results”.

Next is step two which is the clarifying lotion. AKA a toner. The first time  I used this I was appalled at how much it smelt like alcohol! I truly could not believe that a skincare product could smell like a double shot of vodka. I even made the Boyfriend smell it and he said I was crazy but who knows. As time has gone on and I have now been using this for about five weeks, I can say that after the second use I could not smell it at all. The smell of alcohol also had me worried about it possibly leaving my face feeling tight (can we sense a pattern here?) but thankfully it is a normal toner. Nothing amazing and nothing horrible. I can say that this tiny bottle is not even half empty though and I have been using it for over a month. So full points on long lastingness.

And finally the Dramatically Different Moisturising Lotion+. This was the crème de le crème in my books. I was not too phased by a new face cream; give me my Clarins Multi Active Day Cream and I am good to go. However, as I mentioned above, I struggle with dryness on my face and there was one pesky “area” on my face below my nose and above my lip that was constantly red and flaky and super super dry. I did not think this moisturiser would solve my problems so I did not carefully track the process but after maybe four or five days the redness was completely healed! And this is after two months of having the nastiness on my face! And voila. Needless to say I have now taken to using this religiously and look at that teeny tiny tube. When I first started using it I was under the impression that it would last me a lifetime if I needed it to, but now that I have fallen in love with it I despise having to use it every day. DEFINITELY putting this product on the birthday list.
