Today I am chatting about one of my favourite make-up products EVER; the NYX Professional Makeup Matte Bronzer. I posted a picture of it on my Instagram account in January 2018 and, now, a year and 8 months later, I am finally chatting about it properly.
When I look for bronzers, I look for a few boxes to tick. Most importantly, it must be matte. So matte that it is practically a contour shade. Secondly, and probably most importantly, the shade needs to be correct for my skin tone. This is neither here nor there as this will always be the most important thing that ANYONE looks for in a bronzer. My sallow skin tone is so odd that finding the perfect contour/bronzer shade is no easy task.
NYX Professional Makeup Matte Bronzer Deep helps you achieve a honey glow all year long
Jumping right in, I adore using this for both contouring and bronzing. Especially if I am having a lazy make-up day! These lazy days tend to occur from Monday to Friday, on a weekly basis. There are five shades available, of which four are available in South Africa. I am using the shade Medium and I would say it leans to the deeper side of Medium.
For application, I use a contour brush to apply it to my cheekbones and then I blend out with a fluffy powder brush. I then use that same powder brush to add some product to either side of my temples and blend inwards. I end off with my jawline – NEVER forget the jawline!
It is a truly seamless bronzer and contour. There is NO muddiness and no harsh lines. I have been using this for going on two years now, with a multitude of brushes, and I have always been impressed. And when I say I’ve used a multitude, I mean everything from essence to Real Techniques to my favourite Sigma brushes. It is a marvellously easy product to work with.
If I had to, I would liken this to the NYC Sunny bronzer (my HG), and The Body Shop’s Honey Bronze bronzer. Both of those are very similar to this in texture, longevity and blendability. And oh, the smoothness! I cannot properly convey into words just how dreamy this is to work with.
Even better yet, this 9.5g pan of perfection will have even the biggest bargain hunters heading to their nearest Clicks store. At only R179,95 it truly is a steal in my books. As I said above, I have been using this for almost two years and I have barely made a dent in it.
I obviously don’t need to tell you that this is a hands down winner in my book! But just to sum up, if you’re looking for a buttery and blendable bronzer, this should be your next go-to. But always do your research; this scores a 3.9/5 on the Make-Up Alley website. And the negative reviews were all noting that the shades lean deeper than the name suggests. Always swatch before purchasing. If swatching is not possible, read as many blog posts and watch as many Youtube videos as you can! But over and above that, I suggest you run out right now and purchase this 😉
