My favourite foundation find of 2017 is this beauty from Wet ‘n Wild! The Photo Focus Foundation has very quickly jumped to the top of my “drugstore” favourites when it comes to foundations. I would say it falls into my top three faves. Read on to find out why..

Photo Focus

The Photo Focus was released in South African within the last two or so months, and it was HEAVILY raved about. I don’t think I saw the foundations on their displays for a good few weeks into their release. Every single shade in the Photo Focus Foundation and the Photo Focus Concealer was always sold out. Ironically enough, I only got my hands on my original bottle because my friend did not like the foundy on her and we are the same shade. I only needed to use it once to fall in love. Since then I have purchased two more shades – slightly darker – as we are getting into Summer and I will – hopefully – be more tanned before long. I am currently mixing Classic Beige and Soft Ivory to get my perfect match.

If you don’t already know, I have dehydrated skin all over with fine lines on my forehead. I can only review a foundation based on MY skin and yes, you can say my glowing review could be to do with the fact that I have an indepth skincare and prepping routine, BUT I have many negative reviews on foundations too. So when I love (or hate a product) you can generally trust the results!

The Photo Focus Foundation comes in a generic 30ml glass bottle with a spatula applicator. Originally I was like nope, too messy, but I have quickly realized how awesome it really is. If you prefer applying product directly to your face – as opposed to onto a brush or palette – then this is perfect. You could argue that it is slightly unhygienic, in which case you need to remember to wipe the spatula down after each use.

Photo Focus

I have tried the foundation with four different primers (Instablur from The Body Shop, Babyskin from Maybelline, Porefessional from Benefit and the original MAC primer) and all four mixed beautifully and did not change the way it sat on the skin. If I had to choose, I would say Instablur worked the best. It leaves a semi-matte effect to the skin. I tend to add in glow drops of some kind which adds a subtle dewy look.

The shade selection is quite good for the drugstore, with 20 options available. When I ordered my two, I used the Clicks website but there were only two shades in stock. Whenever I feature the Photo Focus on Instagram, I get tons of messages from ladies complaining that they cannot get their shade. This is unfortunately just what happens with new launches. You just have to keep your eye out and wait for new stock to arrive. I would suggest checking the Clicks website every few days if you REALLY want to grab one.

And lastly… I saved the best for last. The price point. They usually cost just under R90. LIKE HOW?! This is probably the cheapest foundation that I have purchased all year! It is also currently on 20% off on the Clicks website. As of writing this post on 26th Dec, the foundation is in stock on the site! It is also proudly cruelty friendly and 100% vegan!

If you have tried the Photo Focus Foundation, let me know in the comments below!
