Have you ever loved a product so much that you sat for weeks writing it, needing to do it justice. That was me. That is me right now.

Nothing encapsulates the true essence of a cult product than a M.A.C lipstick bullet. I am NOT the only girl who has watched her M.A.C lipstick box for hours before opening, not wanting to dent or rip the edges of that perfect crisp black packaging, and I certainly will not be the last.

After months of searching and failing, my aunt managed to get me the cult classic that is Velvet Teddy. I have a post on a similar shade ‘Kinda Sexy’ which I got when I could not get my hands on Velvet Teddy for months on end. I kind of wanted it due to the whole Kylie Jenner craze and I also really suit brown tones and shades and I thought this was totally a winning colour for me.

And as I thought, it is the perfect shade for my skin tone. I feel like it is a really universal shade overall but it would look especially great on anyone with darker hair and skin. I am super pale but I have olive features and this shade really compliments people with similar skin tones.

Just look at that gorgeousness. I took about sixty photos before whitling them down to six.

As with all M.A.C lippies, the formula is smooth and sleek and it lasts a few hours before needing to be reapplied. This specific lipstick is a matte shade but it is not at all drying. Like, not at all. It is definitely matte but it feels creamy when on your lips.

It is also one of those shades which is so perfect for any event. Be it daytime or nighttime, you can easily wear it down with some subtle white liner and mascara or you can dress it up with wings and heavy contour ala Kardashian/Jenner.

My usual work look. Liner, wings and lips.

Needless to say, this is currently my favourite lipstick. I have worn it so frequently since I got it for Christmas that I probably only have one month left of wear in it. I did just purchase ‘Whirl’ last weekend though, so maybe there is a new favourite on the horizon..

M.A.C lipsticks can be bought in all M.A.C stores and online. Most cost R220. The M.A.C stores in CPT are situated in Cavendish Square and the V&A Waterfront.

Thanks for reading!
