Two weeks ago I started my very first ‘grown up’ job. Yep, at 22, I still had not worked a proper 9 – 5 job and finally my day to shine arrived! I will post a life update post in a few days for anyone who does not follow me on Snapchat to find out what I am doing and why its so awesome.

I am absolutely loving it but my body was so used to working only a few hours a day that getting up at 6AM and only getting to bed at around 10PM took its toll. And it took its toll FAST!

I was feeling really ughy and not so great. Even though I was getting enough sleep (bloody hell, an entire day of work conked me out by 8pm!) I was feeling a little bit fatigued every day. I just popped into the Wellness Warehouse to ask for some vitamins to take and they recommended coconut water. In a box. Like a little mini juice box that you would take to school in grade 1.

I have only ever drank coconut water out of a proper real life coconut so the thought of it being in a box freaked me out a bit because it just has a processed feel to it but the sales person assured me that, out of all the coconut waters available, this was the best one and the most natural. It comes from an honest to goodness coconut.

The brand is Cocofina and its advertised as being refreshing, re-hydrating and great for re-energising yourself. I picked up five boxes – one for each day of the work week – and I looked some info up online. They were quite cheap and if they didn’t work wonders then oh well, I won’t go broke beacause of it. However I really wanted to do a bit of research because I vaguely remembered someone telling me that it was VERY fattening – and ain’t nobody wants to add that to their diet.

Anyway, Cocofina is enriched with a natural combo of electrolytes which helps with dehydration and nourishment. I certainly get enough food throughout the day, but its water that I need to force myself to drink, therefore the ‘hydration’ part is great for me. There are so many benefits that drinking water can have on your health, so I know I need to drink as much as I can daily. I’ve been told by my friends to think about getting a water filter system fitted in my house so that I can make different flavours of water at home. They had a look at this list of 10 of the top water filters that are on offer to them to ensure that the water is safe and free from contamination. I think I may look into this as it will keep motivating me to drink water, especially coconut water.

Cocofina claims that coconut water from green coconuts (which is the type that their water is derived from) is nature’s best natural isotonic.

What does isotonic mean? If a drink is advertised as being isotonic, they are designed to quickly replace the fluids which are lost by sweating. They also provide a boost of carbohydrate.

I am NOT so keen on the carbs part. But YOLO.

Cocofina Coconut Water does not contain any sweeteners or chemical additives. It contains low sugar and loads of minerals, vitamins and electrolytes.

The drink is totally suitable for vegans and vegetarian friends. Its best served chilled (real coconut water drunk from a coconut is always served ice cold – so close your eyes and pretend to be on a beach in Thailand whilst you are really behind your desk) and the company advises you to not be surprised if your water tastes slightly different from season to season as the colour and sweetness changes depending on what time of the year it is.

The taste overall really is refreshing and gives you that boost of – in my case – much needed hydration. Its rare to find a drink where you can physically feel the boost!

I was also told that drinking this before eating is good for your gut and helps in the breakdown of food, as well as pulling the appropriate nutrients out. Something else I noticed is that it gives your body that feeling of feeling full.

Definitely stocking up on more of these for next week! And the week after…
