I was very intrigued by this tinted moisturiser because when it comes to facial products I would rather spend a considerable amount of money on a foundation and spend much less money on a BB or CC cream. For me, a tinted moisturiser will fall into the second category. It costs R235 which is way more than I would spend on a BB/CC cream. However, I found it on sale and I thought I would spoil myself with a (semi) high-end product; the Elizabeth Arden Pure Finish Mineral Tinted Moisturiser.

Main Ingredients in Pure Finish Mineral Tinted Moisturiser :

  • Microlight Minerals
  • Squalene – WHAT?! Squalene is derived from olives and brings back the skins own natural moisture
  • Dionysis – again, WHAT?! Slows down the effect of those nasty free radicals and provides a strong antioxidant protection.
  • Vitamins A, C & E
  • Sodium Hyaluronate – Powerful moisturiser for your skin
  • It is also oil-free, frangrance free and talc free.

The first thing I noticed about this product is that it comes out of the tube looking like a foundation would. It was thick and creamy. It also smelled of sunscreen but the SPF is only 15. Usually I would see this as a complete no-no but in this case it smells like Summer and there ain’t nothing wrong with that!

When I looked this up online it said “this hint of sheer natural color instantly transforms perfects skin’s appearance with a fresh, luminous glow”. Firstly, it is not a sheer colour at all. It very much has the same texture and formula of a foundation. And, secondly, it did not give my skin a luminous glow.

By this stage you may be thinking that I am sounding very negative. However I really enjoy using this product. It is easy to blend onto the skin, you get a really good coverage out of it. And it evens out your skin tone (probably the MAIN thing I look for in a BB/CC cream!).

It also feels very light on your skin even though it looks and feels like a foundation when swatching it on your arm. Once applied to your face it feels thin and light. No cake face at all when wearing this.

It is not very buildable in my opinion, so I would use this on a good skin day or maybe for a beach day when you need some cover-up but not too much.

Another thing I noticed is that the colour looks much darker in the swatch than what it really blends out to be in reality. I also saw some people online reviewing that they went for lighter shades than they would usually choose based on the swatches looking really dark. So if you do order this online without swatching in store, be aware of that!
