The Body Shop very recently came out with a new range, Fuji Green Tea, which contains the usual products, such as shower gel and body butter, and some amazingly innovative products like a Bath Infuser and Bath Tea. This entire range was inspired by a Japanese tea ceremony. The products are infused with antioxidant green tea leaves picked from Japan’s Mount Fuji region. Green tea is known and loved for its detoxifying health benefits.
I was very excited to be sent the most luxurious item of the entire range, the 250ml Body Scrub. I was also a teensy bit hesitant because, while I adore body scrubs, I do not drink any teas. Let alone green tea.
The product arrived within a few days and as you can see from the pictures it suffered a minor injury. Thankfully the product inside was still in perfect condition…
Now, I don’t know about you, but when I think of a body scrub I think of a salt scrub. This scrub is not like that at all. It is basically a jelly with small kernels in it. I really liked the idea as I love exfoliators. Having tried so many in the past but never one in this form. I did suspect it would not work as well. Just because it was a lot more softer than a regular scrub due to the gelatin form.
The way that I judge a scrub is by the way my legs feel after exfoliating them. I always use the same The Body Shop exfoliating gloves. If my legs are super tingly afterwards then I KNOW that it did its job. And surprisingly enough, this product gave my legs them tingles! I truly thought that it had an amazing smell and texture but that it would probably not work as nicely as my usual scrubs. Solely based on the softness of the jelly texture.
As I said before, I was hesitant on the smell because I do not like the smell of any kinds of teas and thankfully you don’t get any traces of tea out of this. The best way to describe it would be fresh, clean and refreshing. There is also a hint of honey which we all know is the Community Fair Trade honey. It comes from the UNESCO Sheka Forest Biosphere Reserve. This is in the southern region of Ethiopia that The Body Shop is famous for using.
It definitely leaves you feeling like you have just had a bit of an energising kick, and it also leaves behind a fantastic smell! So I would definitely recommend using this in the morning before going out as opposed to at night when no one will get the opportunity to smell you in all your gloriousness.
I took a look at the overseas The Body Shop websites and this scrub is going for INSANE prices! Costing fifteen pounds and twenty four dollars. To me that is just insane, even though it really is a great product and it will clearly last ages as a little goes a long way. Thankfully it is priced really well at R140 here in South Africa 🙂
I am not one of those people who gets all hot and flustered over new range releases. Just from looking at the website, I am aching to try the Body Sorbet, the Bath Infuser, and the Bath Tea.
Hey, maybe I will just jump onto this tea bandwagon after all..
