You guys know I love a good story, right? I feel like so often I am reviewing an item and I end up writing a super long-winded post about “this one time”. And here is yet another! This post revolves around the MAC Trend Forecast (Lip and Cheek Palette) for Spring 2015.

Last year December I was lucky enough to win a competition with Dave Lackie via Twitter. I’m sure that most of you know exactly who he is and what he does BUT for those of you who don’t know, he is a beauty expert and he is the founder and editor-in-chief of BEAUTY The Guide, luxury beauty’s premiere magazine. Dave hosts bi-weekly Twitter and blog competitions where followers and readers can win luxe beauty items.

I entered his competitions whenever I really REALLY loved the products – I never enter anything unless I would really love to win – and I never won but then one day in December I saw that he has a surprise list of names of followers who had won based on interaction and comments. I was constantly re-tweeting, favouriting and chatting to Dave on Twitter and learning tons of tips and tricks along the way – and now I had won an awesome awesome prize consisting of a Fendi perfume, three Fendi cosmetic pouches and a shower lotion.

I was so ecstatic and eagerly waited the arrival. Then a few days later Dave messaged me to say that the package was stopped at German Customs and destroyed due to the fact that perfume can not be sent. I was so upset but the fabulous Mr. Lackie assured me that he would be sending another package “with a fabulous MAC product that only beauty editors receive.” So of course I was overjoyed because I love love love MAC. It arrived a few days later and I was pleased as punch to see it was the Lip and Cheek Palette Trend Forecast for Spring 2015.

The palette contains the exact shades that I am going for this Autumn which is reaaally weird as its based around Spring but us here in South Africa are going into Autumn. Yet I am loving berry, melon and nude tones. All of the colours look super wearable.

Here is the breakdown of the colours:

Seasonally Peach – light pastel peach with pearl sheen

Must Have Melon – soft peachy coral

Bang On Red – bright orange red

Spring Sensation – light pink with pearl sheen

Go Guava – medium tone rose

One To Watch – magenta

The colours I am most excited about are One To Watch, Seasonally Peach and Go Guava. That being said, I would not use these on my cheeks at all. I love duo use products but I would much rather keep all of these as lip colours rather than use them on my cheeks.

Below are the swatches but please note that these are taken from sharonthemakeupartist.com

I have only used two of the colours off the palette and I can tell you that they are fantastic. They are just as good as the usual MAC lipstick bullets. The magenta colour comes off a bit sheer while the others all look opaque. I don’t think I will do a swatch post but I will be including all six colours in upcoming Lip Look posts.

What do you think of this palette? Would you wear these colours this season?
