Late last year I attended a fab Bioderma day and we were sent home with about a million products. Well, maybe not a million but I am taking years to get through them all. Reason being? 90% of the products are so incredible that I don’t want to move on from them to test other products.
Therefore I’ve decided to split these posts into three posts and take you through every single item. There are so many incredible ranges – and products within the ranges – that I would hate to leave something off because it didn’t work for ME as it may be exactly the product you are looking for.
Bioderma Laboratories is a privately owned French pharmaceutical company that specialises in medication for dermatological and hair/scalp conditions
Now, we all know the French are THE people when it comes to skincare. So the fact that we can pop into our local Clicks and grab a couple of items is just incredible. You certainly could not do that in South African ten years ago!
Sébium Sérum – Purifying concentrate Gentle peel – R272.95
A purifying and smoothing concentrate that resorbs established blemishes. – Now this is a nifty little product! This is geared toward oilier skin and my skin is not oily at all. It is however described to correct already established blemishes. I had the sheer luck (not) of having a terrible blind pimple on my left eyebrow for about a month before I began using this. The ingredient glycolic acid evens out irregular skin and restores it’s natural radiance.
Depending on your skin, you can use this anywhere from every second day to daily. It can be used alone or hand in hand with your regular evening treatment. There is also the ingredient Fluidactiv™ in the formula which regulates sebum quality and lessens the chance of pores from becoming clogged.
Because of my non-oily skin, I only used this on the one area of my face for fear of the consistency being too rich for my skin. However it worked an absolute treat on my blind pimple!
Sensibio H2O Make-up removing micelle solution – R222
A cleansing and make-up removing water that respects the fragility of sensitive skin. – Quite possibly the most renowned Bioderma product of all time. In fact, it has been around for 24 years and one bottle is sold every three seconds worldwide.
There are three variations within the micellar water range; Sensibio, Hydrabio and Sebium. I have used both the Sensibio and Hydrabio ranges are there is nothing quite like them. You really cannot go back to using a different drugstore available micellar water after using this on your face.
Micellar Water really only hit the skincare market and caused waves about three years ago, but these have been around for 21 years longer than that. The real OG! AND it is one of the only pharmaceutical graded micellar waters on South African shelves.
And for those of you who are still new to micellar water; it can be used for a number of things, most notably the removal of make-up using a cotton pad before cleansing.
Photoderm SPOT SPF50 – R272.95
Prevents pigmentation marks and the hyper-pigmentation of scars. – This may be my favourite of all the Bioderma products I have tested thus far. This cream is lightweight, waterproof and easily worn alone or under make-up.
The consistency is non-sticky and, a happy coincidence, works nicely as a primer if you do plan of applying a full face of make-up. The SPF 50+ guarantees optimum UVA/UVB protection against sun-rays, as well as limits pigmentation and protects already existing scars. I wish I had this when I went to Mauritius last year!
Bioderma Atoderm Restorative Lip Balm – R130
Specially formulated to bring dry, chapped and damaged lips the intense moisture and nourishment. – There really isn’t too much that one can say about a lipbalm. You either love it or hate it. And I do love this one. It is rich yet light and extremely nourishing. Basically it does what it says on the tin.
One difference with this Bioderma lip-balm is that is does last a bit longer on the lips that a usual balm. If I compare it to my usual favourite (in a bullet form), it even lasts longer than that.
