I don’t think I have ever posted a negative review on a NYX product. But man, I had research other opinions online after using this Dream Catcher Palette..
This is the Dream Catcher Palette in the Stormy Skies colour palette. There are two other colour palettes; Golden Horizons and Dusk ‘Til Dawn. The colour selection in this palette are gorgeous. It is a mix of shimmers, satins and mattes and seems to be the perfect combination of day and night products. There are some really unusual colours too, which I love. As well as there being taupe and nude shades, pretty much a perfect selection. The shades are slightly domed and also look slightly like a baked shadow.
Moving on to swatching the shades. And nothing. Not an exaggeration, but nothing. I had to use an eyeshadow brush five times in the second darkest shade to swatch the colour on my arm. I was doing this without a damp brush. Dampening a brush will always enhance a shade but these shadows are not specifically meant to be used with a damp brush.
Anyway, I swatched two shades because getting two to payoff took about ten minutes. I was not going to swatch all 10 after that.
After checking online, it seems to be such a mix of opinions on the Dream Catcher Palette. It is literally a 50/50 toss up between disappointed reviews and fab reviews. One girl even went as far as comparing it to a dupe of the Naked palette. Others had the exact same opinion as me, that there was no pigment and no payoff. I really don’t know how this is even possible because the ingredients don’t alter from palette to palette. So who knows. I have used many many NYX eyeshadow pigments and shadows in the past with incredible payoff and lasting effect!!
The packaging however is super thick and sturdy. It also comes with a nifty – HUGE – mirror and applicator which you can find if you slide the palette part to the right. After looking online, it seems like people do not realize the palette has a mirror at all!
You can purchase the NYX Dream Catcher Palette selection from selected Clicks stores nationwide for R225.

Those swatches are so bad. Wow! I think I’ve only ever seen bad reviews, so never bothered to get it, now I’m definitely glad I didn’t.
Color 10 worked great on my eye brows. I liked the subtleness, but wished the shades stuck better. Perhaps a primer would have helped.
I mean Color 8 for my eyebrows.
