So after thinking about it for a while and I decided that I would start writing about my jobs on my blog. I chat about my jobs 90% of the time on my Snapchat (MAKEITRAYNEX) so I get asked about them a lot.

I have a full time daytime job and then a part-time – what you could call – night job. It’s not specifically at night but I will explain that later.

My daytime job is that I am the Social Media Manager and Marketing gal at a successful local jewellery company. I work in an amazing environment with the greatest people and I am learning soooo much. I have never been interested in high end and custom jewellery before (apart from coveting it of course) and in my five months being there I have already taken in so much. I can tell a Cubic Zirconia from a Diamond and a blue faceted Chalcendony from an Amanzonite faster than you can say “Do you take AMEX?” I feel very very lucky to have such an awesome boss and not deal with the usual woes that people moan about on a daily basis.

My “night time” job is that I am the Cape Town Event and Fashion & Beauty Liasion for one of South Africa’s largest event and nightlife blogs. This entails me attending events on behalf of the company and posting photos and reviews on the events and/or products. As well as this I also use all of my own personal beauty blogs’ posts as duplicates on the website which is incredible as it allows my blog to be seen around the country on a much larger scale.

I get to attend many concerts, events, tastings, openings and more and a lot of people think this is so fabulous. And yes, it can be super glamorous and exciting. I LOVE IT. I hope to expand and be able to keep doing this for as long as possible!

One of the highlights of covering media for concerts – you can attend the concerts once you are finished.

The bad boys who help me get the best shots. I love my Nikon D3200 so much – but I know I need to upgrade again in the next few months.

However, it can be super super intense. Some weeks go like this: work from 8.30am – 4.30pm, event immediately after work until 11pm, posting on blog, publishing various posts on media page, sleep. Repeat a few times a week. And whenever a big event is attended, photos will then need to be taken during the event, edited that evening and posted onto ALL forms of social media along with a more than 300 word long post.

Luckily I have a great boss/mentor who does not believe in attending every single invite, event and launch. If that was the case, I would be out every night of the week!

I have only been with the company since June of 2015 and some of my shooting highlights would be Beatenberg, Russell Brand, Ben Howard, Mumford and Sons and, my absolute fave as yet, George Ezra. Nothing can turn you into a fan faster then standing one metre away from them on the stage and seeing them sing their hearts out up close and personally.

My biggest annoyance was when someone in the front row of the George Ezra concert threw water onto me and my camera. Granted, the fans have been there for hours upon hours waiting, and two seconds before the acts get on stage we – the photographers – get access into the “pit” which is bam right in front of said fans. No one explains to them that we are only there for three songs and YES we will try and stay out of your way. One lady wasn’t having it and she threw water onto me and my expensive camera. Thankfully nothing was harmed but man oh man do I get scared of hectic fans these days..

If I wasn’t a George Ezra fan before his concert, I sure was after <3

Some of the divine cocktails served to us at the VIP Urban Brandy event last month.

So thats the entire explanation of what I do day and night. I can honestly say that I am so so very happy with my jobs right now and I hope to be able to stay where I am – if not move up in the ranks – for as long as possible!

Thanks for reading! Do you have a day job which other people would want to know more about – let me know if you do!
