I start off so many of my review posts with ‘If you follow me on social media you will know that I love this product..” but the Telescopic Carbon Black mascara by L’Oreal really is featured time and time again across all of my social media platforms. I love it.
I originally started using it because it was recommended time and time again by one of my favourite Youtube gurus, Carli Bybel. Telescopic had been released in South Africa but I always struggled to find it in stores! The stores would stock it, but it was always sold out. I wasn’t too bleak because, at R190 for a chemist/drugstore mascara, it really wasn’t cheap. Then lo and behold I found it! AND it was on sale! So very excitedly I tried it the very next day and I have been hooked ever since.
Seriously, I have raved about other chemist mascaras before (Maybelline Volum’ Express being a firm favourite of mine) but I really haven’t strayed too much since buying this in August!
The wand of the mascara is quite thin and long. I was always under the impression that a short and stumpy wand was better for achieving a voluminous lash look but apparently not. The wand does exactly what I want from a mascara; the thin bristles separates and coats each lash whilst the long wand lengthens and coats simultaneously. Doesn’t that sound like perfection?
The mascara does not flake off as the day goes by. I repeat, it.does.not.flake.off. This is one of my pet peeves when it comes to mascara faults. S I love the fact that this doesn’t feature with this one.
When removing the mascara you don’t even need a make-up remover. You can simply use water and lightly pull on your lashes. Definitely not the best way to clean your lashes but it will do in a stretch!
I also do not have particularly sensitive eyes, nor do I wear glasses or contact lenses, but the L’Oreal website states that this mascara is great and suitable for people with sensitive eyes and also for contact lens wearers. It is fragrance free and opthamologist tested.
I realize I probably should have included a ‘my eyelashes before’ picture but you can see me without any makeup in loads of other blog posts, so go wild.
It is now mid-December and I bought this mascara mid-August and it is just about finishing up. So four months – where I used it almost every single day – is GREAT usage. And at R190 a tube, it definitely doesn’t feel too pricey to me anymore!
** You can buy the L’Oreal Telescopic Carbon Black Mascara at most Clicks, Foschini, Dis-Chem and Edgars stores!
