After my post featuring local company Pink Cosmetics, I have had a few requests to look into other local companies. It is always so heart-warming (well, for me at least) to see South African peeps’ businesses flourishing.

So today’s company is Little Eskimo. Founded by two friends who started off selling EOS lip balm (I still carry about four in my handbag daily!) locally three years ago. They now stock over 200 stores countrywide – huge deal for a small business!

Relax your mind, awaken your skin.

I was sent both the Rejuvenating Eye Mask (R95) and the Rejuvenating Face Mask (R185) to test out. They are so simple to use, you barely need to read the instructions. Pop them into the fridge for 10 – 15 minutes each and you’re good to go.

The formulation and design behind both masks is easy enough. They were designed to curb inflammation. Yes, you could use ice, but ice will melt. Also, who knows how long we will still have water in South Africa. Slightly dramatic, Rayne, but okay. Basically using ice will leave you freezing and soaking wet. Little Eskimo Masks will not. I cannot find any information on how long you should preferably wear the mask for, but I just keep mine on until I feel it is warm. This is around 20 minutes.

My mask sat a little weirdly on my face. I do have a LOT of hair though which I think kind of affected the straps at the back. The mask comes with two large velcro straps at the back which helps keep the mask close to your face. I am actually wearing the face mask right now, it is not uncomfortable in the slightest and I can see and type as per usual. You just forget it is there after a few minutes.

Both the Little Eskimo eye mask (R95) and face mask (R185) are fine for people with sensitive skin. I don’t have sensitive skin but I still wanted to put the mask to the test.. hehe. So I wore the mask after using a resurfacing liquid peel on my skin – as this causes sensitive skin for a few days. I literally felt no difference whatsoever compared to using the face mask without the resurfacing peel. So, even though I already liked the mask, I felt really good in knowing the extra sensitivity of my skin did not mess with the results.

After you pop the mask off your face, your face feels very refreshed. Obviously a cooling mask is meant to do this. But it really does feel cooling. Even when you blink, you can feel that little tingle. And if you poke your face it feels like someone else is poking it. Weird thought? Maybe..

I have a little more than a touch of Texas Chainsaw Massacre… Boyf pretty much asked me to take the mask off.

Out of the two masks, I prefer the full face mask (R185). I prefer the idea of the eye mask more, as I suffer greatly with bad eyes. Puffy eyes and dark undereye circles are my best friends. So I love the fact that the eye mask is designed to fight off puffiness and redness. However, I find that the full face mask targets enough of the undereye area for me to be overall satisfied with the full face mask. Also, the eye mask does not have eye holes.. so you can’t do anything! This is absolutely fine for some people who love to relax a bit, but I have to be on my phone or my laptop or watching TV. OMG, I am totally a square eyed person, maybe the eye mask is best for me!!

A few more reasons why I love the face mask more than the eye mask is because the mask smoothens your skin and minimizes your pores. It also soothes redness and irritation which lessens your chance of blemishes and breakouts. beginning.

Both masks have a non-existent shelf life. There are no active ingredients so the mask will literally not expire. The masks also come with little silk drawstring bags, so you can keep them nice and hygienic when they are making friends with your food in the fridge. I like an extra cold mask so I keep mine in the veggie crisper drawer.

And finally, a little bit of a weird compliment, but I adore this packaging. How freaking cute? The masks come packaged individually in a book like box. You open the front, get a look at the mask, and all the info you need is on the inside flap.
