Autumn. My most beloved shade of the year! Layered clothes, comfort food and darker shades of make-up come into play. Here are my favourite Autumn lip shades for 2017.

Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in 477 Black Cherry

There is just something so satisfying about the scent of a Revlon lipstick. Maybe the satisfaction comes from knowing that you don’t need to worry about it smudging. Maybe it comes from knowing you don’t have to reapply you lipstick for hours. Either way, Revlon goes down in history as one of the best lipstick makers of all time. And when you are wearing a shade like Black Cherry, it is always in the back of your mind. You always fear that it gets on your teeth or something awful. Not with this lippy. It is a freaking fantastic deep semi-sheen wine burgundy hybrid. I absolutely love it, end of discussion.

Chi-Chi Creamy Matte Lquid Lipstick in Wild Child

The entire Creamy Matte Liquid Lipstick range is exactly what you want from a lip product. They are creamy, thick, yet wearable, and the colour range is great. The best part of all? They smell like Bubbaloos!

Wild Child is a gorgeous warm rose brown with a burgundy undertone. I would swear the Kylie lipsticks were modelled after these, they are so similar. They are not available in SA, you would have to import these in from New Zealand. However, at $17 per lipstick, that roughly translates to R240. This is not what I would call “drugstore affordable”. And it looks like a larger than usual size, but if you read the packaging it is 7ml where the NYX Lip Creams are 8ml each and that tube is significantly thinner and shorter.

essence 2-in-1 matt matt matt lipstick & liner in 02 make some noise!

The design of this lip product didn’t hook me, so I was especially pleasantly surprised when I started using it. The nib shape of this lipstick had me worrying that it would snap, but thankfully that isn’t an issue. The colour is absolutely gorgeous, a perfect deep rose with a bit of terracotta in there. Your lips won’t dry out with this product either as it is not drying, and if there is one thing we need in Autumn, it is non drying lip products!

Sleek Matte Me Ultra Smooth Matte Lip Cream in Shabby Chic

I have a few of these Sleek liquid lipsticks and I am soooo obsessed. One application lasts around six hours before it starts cracking. It is one of the strongest lasting lip products I have ever used. I wore this shade almost daily in England through the sleet, rain and freezing air and it stayed perfectly. The shade itself is the most pink of my 5 Autumn shades but it is a winner if you have hazel eyes. I find that this shade has something in it that really makes hazel eyes pop and look more green than brown. Again, I have this product in shades from brown to orange to pink, and they are all opaque. There is no difference between the shades.

NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Copenhagen

And finally, rarer than freaking hen’s teeth. NYX Soft Matte Cream in Copenhagen. I will go out on a whim here and say that this is the most popular NYX lip shade of all time. Can anyone confirm this All I know is that I – and friends all over the world – were on the hunt for this and it was unobtainable. Girls online were somehow finding them and selling them for R400 each online. R400! It retails for about R120 in Clicks. Clicks finally got stock of these but I think the waiting list was 4 months long. Hahahaha. Cara somehow got her hands on one for each of us and the shade is so not overrated. It is deep and sheeny yet still creamy matte on your lips. The formula is not drying at all and the shade lasts a good few hour before needing to be reapplied. My favourite pro about the NYX lip creams is that you rarely need a lip liner, and this is no exception.
