In my years as a beauty lover and blogger, I have always known of Optiphi yet never branched out into the brand. It was always a case of “I’ll get to Optiphi once I have made a dent in the current Alladin’s Cave of products sitting on my beauty desk”.

Lucky me, Optiphi themselves sent some of their products before I got around to branching out on my own – and I am so happy they did! I actually have a few items of theirs to test, review and chat about, and originally I wanted to write up one consolidated post, but I really am just besotted with their Hydra-Derm HA Masque (R740) and felt like a dedicated post was in order.

Anyone who reads Make It Rayne will know that masks are up there in my top 3 genres of skincare. I most definitely have an obsession and I am a discerning critic, to say the least.

Hydra-Derm HA Masque

The Hydra-Derm HA Masque has been designed with top-notch ingredients – including Dipeptide-1, Oligopeptide, Hyaluronic Acid, Cucumber Extract, Peptide-7 and more, to deliver the following benefits;

  • Hydration and long-lasting moisture
  • Firming of the skin while also reducing wrinkles
  • Added radiance while leaving skin refreshed and revitalized
  • Reduction in irritation, skin sensitivity and redness
Hydra-Derm HA Masque
Love this little addition inside of the Optiphi packaging..

This masque has very quickly jumped to the top of my favourites list mainly due to the fact that it really does deliver on its claims There is no time stipulation on the packaging, nor how many times a week you can use it. Therefore I coincide the nights I use this with the same nights that I use my exfoliator in my skincare routine. Truth be told, I have to restrain myself from using it more frequently! The masque is luxuriously creamy and does a good job at calming and soothing the skin.

A creamy masque that soothes,  deeply hydrates, and fights signs of skin fatigue

On top of this, the hydration it adds to your skin is phenomenal. AND visible. Case in point: About three weeks ago I went for a peel at the spa. Included in the peel was some minor extraction work and I had a doozy of a pimple on my forehead. Seriously – I RARELY get pimples (touch wood), but when I do, they are not playing around. The therapist did a great job at sorting this bugger out but of course, I had to pay close attention to healing the skin afterwards. The skin where the pimple sat was now a flaky circle (sorry, sorry, TMI). Anyway, the Hydra-Derm HA Masque seriously did the job in hydrating and nourishing my skin. Only a few short days later and the skin was completely healed. The results really blew me away.

Hydra-Derm HA Masque

Unlike exfoliating masks and the like, I use this all over my face. Essentially you could use it to target treat but, because my skin is dry, I apply it to my entire face. I use a fan/masque brush to apply my mask to assure no waste and even application. Then I normally add an extra dollop or two to my extra dry areas.

I will definitely be adding the Hydra-Derm HA Masque to my ‘repurchase’ list. The price tag of R740 initially seems steep but keep in mind you will get 20+ uses from this tube. And if you are spot treating, you can double that amount. If you work it out to a per-use cost, you are paying almost 50% LESS than you would for a one-use sheet mask. A definite winner in my skincare collection!

Let me know if you’ve tried this masque and if you also fell in love! As mentioned, I have a few more Optiphi products to play with in the coming weeks. Keep posted for those reviews!
