Over the last few months, Revlon have continued to come out with new releases, each more innovative than the last. Revlon South Africa very generously let me choose a few goodies to try – each one of these featured items is one that I was DYING to test and there were hits and misses among the bunch.

Youth FX Fill + Blur Concealer R199.00

Surely you have seen a review of this by now? I have seen this concealer reviewed on almost every single beauty blog over the last month or so. My opinion on it is that it is great. I wouldn’t call it my fave of all time but it is a great choice of concealer. I use it mainly for under eye circles as I got mine in the lightest shade so using it on blemishes would not be ideal. It is a nice creamy yet light consistency and it does not go cakey or, my worst thing ever, flakey under the eyes.

I am really wanting to try the foundation from the range as I have been seeing rave reviews. When it comes to foundation, you HAVE to test it out in store even if you have used the brand  many times in the past. I am a huge fan of Revlon foundys and I know this latest release will be a home run.

Colorstay Brow Pencil in 220 Dark Brown R179.00

This is probably my favourite of all their new releases. It may look like a regular run-of-the-mill brow pencil but it is the closes product I have found to match the Sleek Brow Pencil (my holy grail) and it is incredible. It has a very dense spooly on the one end which is great for brushing the brows up. The pencil itself needs a very light touch for pigmentation which means you get a big bang for your buck. There is a very unique shape to the product which allows application to be seamless once you get your technique right.

Colorstay Crème Eye Shadows in Caramel, Crème Brulee & Vanilla R99.95

These are a sore point for me. I was waiting FOREVER for them to be released here but they did not deliver to the standard that I expected. The colour selection is vast and gorgeous. The price point is R99.95 per shadow which is unheard of. Each pot contains 5.2g of product, again, AMAZING. You probably use, like, 0.0005g per application.

The problem is I have extremely wrinkled eyelids. There, I said it. My embarrassment. This means that they crease terribly on my lids, much more than other creme shadows. I have compared their ingredient list with those of other great creme shadows and I cannot seem to figure out what the difference is. So ja, these are a no go for me. However, their staying power is great, the colours are vibrant and last HOURS. I just won’t be wearing them 🙁 The middle shade Creme Brulee is one of the top eyeshadow colours of ALL time for my eye colour. This is a serious disappointment to me that my eyelids forbid me from using them.

Mega Multiplier Mascara R169.00

I was sooo excited to try this! The Revlon mascaras with the dark blue and red lids are two of my favourite ones ever. This latest release has a turquoise lid and is meant to be the ultimate ‘do it all’ option. It does tick all the boxes for me: length, dark colour and volume. I don’t struggle any more than usual to remove this at the end of the day and it does not flake either. Pretty much all you could ask for from a mascara! I must have been wearing this almost daily for the last three weeks and I have no complaints!

Revlon

I am 99% sure that all four of these are already available on shelves. Make sure to check out the Revlon display next time you are near one. They have had a HUGE array of new releases from August onwards that will blow your socks off. I am definitely going to be picking up the Youth FX Foundation to try for myself!
