Ahhh slay slay slay, slaying all around. The Eyes Wide Open collection from Elizabeth Arden features eyeshadows, compacts, a mascara and a brow mascara. In today’s post I am going  to chat all about the Little Black Compact eyeshadow trios.

What do I love about the entire collection? Firstly, the price point. All of these items are priced really well for such a renowned brand. Secondly, I love the choice. The eyeshadow trios alone consist of ten options, with each option containing three shades. Duh, it is a trio. So realistically, the options of eye looks are endless. And finally, the ingredient lists for the Eyes Wide Open collection are some of the most impressive to date.

Introducing every woman’s best friend; the Little Black Compact. This new release from Elizabeth Arden can house two of the interchangeable trios at a time, allowing you to purchase multiples and popping them into the compact as and when you need them. The trios – in my opinion – each house a lid, crease and transition shade. You also have a huge array of shades to chose from., including lilacs, blanc white, rose, cobalt blue, silk greys, burgundy wine, some deeper purples, a few taupes and more.

Eyes Wide Open

Because the Eyes Wide Open trios that I received were press drops, I didn’t get to choose my colours. I was lucky enough to receive Bronzed To Be and Something Blue. The first would have been my top pick out of all ten trios! Containing a gold shimmer, a deep brown and a pure white, it is my go to every day look.
I like to pack on the gold for an evening look and for a daytime option I use more of the brown to give it more of a toned down look. With either option I use the white underneath my brow and in the inner corners of my eye. I am not exaggerating in the slightest when I say I have worn this trio probably 6 out of 7 days for the last month.

Something Blue, however, is a trio I would not have considered buying for myself. I am a major scaredy cat when it comes to unusual shades! And as someone with hazel eyes, blue is an unusual shade. However, the deeper blue is just the most flipping amazing, deep and intense shimmer shade. Can you tell I love the shimmer shadows? Swatching it on my hand had me falling in love with the blue but I am still yet to put it on my lids! I have used the soft pink shade and it is one of those perfect shades for hazel eyes; it leaves your sludge coloured eyes looking more green than brown!

Take a peek at that brown and cobalt arm swatches. That is some insane pigmentation!

A few other trio options which really got me excited are: Not So Nude, You Had Me At Merlot and Love of Grey. Overall there is a trio (or a few trios!) for everyone.

A few key ingredients included in the shadows are Vitamin E, mica based pearls and retinyl palmitate.  (I didn’t know this ingredient either.) It blurs the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles on the lids. This is something I need in EVERY single lid product! I have the thinnest lids ever and my veins are awful looking.

The price point is R385 per trio, but only R770 for TWO trios AND the compact. And quickly chatting about the compact. I have no idea what it is made of but it is such a unique palette. It is a soft almost rubbery material, leaving it feel very luxe, different and high end. The entirety of the palette is the plain sophisticated black with the iconic Elizabeth Arden name on. Excuse my less than pristine one in the images, I was not joking when I said I use it daily. It has also been lugged around in my handbag and make-up bag, hence the name slightly fading on one side.

I would love to hear your thoughts on these eyeshadows! Or maybe this post has encouraged you to pop out and test them? I will have a full review up shortly with my thoughts on the other items in the Eyes Wide Open range; the Lasting Impression Mascara and Statement Brow.

Statement Brows & Lasting Impression Mascara are already available in store. The Little Black Compact and trios will be available as of next Monday, 18th September 2017!
