You guuuys. Be ready to read an uber-ravey post! The Prevage City Smart Double Action Detox Peel Off Mask from Elizabeth Arden recently landed on my beauty desk and I was hooked from the first use.

My brain is pretty much a filing cabinet, where my “favourite” products are constantly being shuffled around as better products are discovered, and as old faves are rediscovered. I can pretty much say that my top three face masks have been the same three for the past six months. And I can quite honestly say that a peel off mask has never been on my favourites radar. I have just never felt like they worked properly on my face.

A peel off mask is one of the few which is beneficial to every skin type. Be it oily skin, dry skin, combo skin, a peel off will work for you.

Just seeing the word ‘detox’ on the packaging has me gravitating towards this. My skin is fine, it is not really problematic besides for being really dry. BUT when I do get pimples they are blind ones – sounds nasty, huh? They are painful and complete nuisances to get rid of. The Prevage City Smart Double Action Detox Peel Off Mask is designed to minimise pores, lift impurities and fight free radicals. Which all, in turn, fights off pimples and the other combinations which lead to bad skin.

Online it is advertised as “Acting like a liquid magnet to instantly lift and remove impurities, the detox mask resurfaces skin and enhances its natural detoxification system”. I love how the sleek chrome silver packaging reflects the magnet effect. What I love even more is how it lives up to it’s description. You really feel the mask working. And I think this is why I have never been a fan of peel off masks in the past. I adore the effect of a clay or mud mask, where you can see and feel the effects taking place. But with the Prevage City Smart Double Action Detox Peel Off Mask you can feel it working.

A lot of skincare companies are going the “anti-pollution” route these days, in highlighting that we need to protect our face from the everyday airborne pollution that we just cannot see with our eyes.  And how do you protect from something you cannot see? The formulation includes a large amount of key ingredients – such as polymer and antioxidants – which make up a shield that will keep those pollutants out.

The mask peels off in one huge piece. So often (pretty much every time) you are disappointed in peel off masks as they lack the You-tube-esqueness that we see online because they don’t peel off all at once. They come off in little pieces. This Prevage City Smart Double Action Detox Peel Off Mask peels off PERFECTLY.

Even my boyfriend commented on it’s peeling abilities when I used it on him! And trust me, he wouldn’t know a great mask if it slapped him in the face.

One thing I did notice is this won’t fully dry if you are soaking in a (shallow, for all you local CPT ladies!) steaming hot bath. On one incident I had my mask on while in a (yes, SHALLOW) bath but I like my water piping hot and it took a good deal of time longer to dry. This in no way changes the effect or use of the mask though.

Overall the Prevage City Smart Double Action Detox Peel Off Mask has exceeded my expectations. I find that my skin is happy to use this three to four times a week. Even though you only need to use it bi-weekly. I really notice the difference after using it so I try to use it the night before any big blogging or social events.
You probably don’t need me to clarify it but I would definitely recommend this mask. It can be viewed as a bit pricey at R850. But you are also paying for a larger-than-usual sized tube, as well as a product where a little goes a long way.  If you have the money, or if you are in need of a splurge, then this is definitely a winning  choice!

I feel like I am half way to writing a novel right now so let’s not even get me started on the deliciously fresh scent that this mask contains.. But wow. I know I have said it before, but Elizabeth Arden know what they are doing when it comes to skincare.
