You know when you read a blog post by a blogger and it is so positive that you think nah, this is too good to be true? Now, you know when the same blogger says positive things religiously about the same brand? You know you still think HMMMM, this cannot be right. How can ALL these products from the same brand be amazing? Well I am turning into that blogger when it comes to dermalogica. This year alone they have released the daily superfoliant, the age reversal eye complex, the stress positive eye lift and – the latest addition – the nightly lip treatment. Keep posted for that last mentioned one, I am so behind on blogging but I promise, it is coming!!

Simple, straightforward and easy to use yet it packs a knockout punch in the energizing and alleviating fields. I said it above and I will say it here again. This stress positive eye lift is pretty much a miracle eye cream. At 23, I suppose my crows feet are not as bad as most, but my under eye bags are worse than they should be and so is the darkness in that area. Either way I see results from this after one use. It is designed for daily or nightly use but I tend to use it only when I really need a a pick me up in the eye area.

I had seriously high hopes for this because it is dermalogica. Enough said, right? You will be hard pressed to find someone who has negative things to say about their products. This is definitely one of the most innovative products to ever come from the brand due to its unique ingredient list and design of the packaging.

Taken directly from the dermalogica South Africa website:  “Active, cooling cream-gel masque energizes skin to reduce visible signs of stress. High-performance formula minimizes the appearance of puffiness and dark circles, increases skin luminosity. Lifts the eye area and helps restore skin barrier integrity. Wild Indigo Seed actives brighten to help visibly reduce under-eye circles. Sea Water Extract and Arctic Algae counter the look of puffiness. Fermented Yeast and a unique Hyaluronic Acid blend firm skin to help generate a lifting effect. Bioactive Diglucosyl Gallic Acid works with your skin’s natural microbiome (microorganisms) to brighten and energize the eye area. Formulated without artificial fragrances or colours.”

Something I was appreciative to note is that the ‘active ingredients’ are high to mid-level up on the ingredient list. This means that their concentration level is really great. If you are looking for an ingredient, and it is at the end of a suuuuper long list, you can pretty much bet your money on that ingredient having barely any effect on your skin as the concentration is so minimal.

Basically, Wild Indigo Seed and Hyaluronic Acid are your new best friends. Along with the cooling effect you get from the cream-gel formula, you can only imagine how extra luxe it feels when being applied with the massaging applicator. Not to mention that it is, like, 8 degrees in the mornings these days. The applicator feels like an ice-block! Mucho cooling effect. You’re to apply it and leave on for 3 – 5 minutes. It can be used morning or night. Like I said, I use it only when I need my eyes to be extra wide-awake so generally this will be in the mornings before an important event. You can either tissue off the excess or massage the excess in. DEFINITELY you should be massaging the excess in and never wasting it!

The three top benefits you will get from this are:

  • Will firm your skin which will generate a lifting affect
  • Brightens the appearance of under eye circles and darkness
  • De-puffs the under eye area

And because dermalogica always come up with cute online tests to go along with all their new releases, here is their ‘stress test’. I ended up with the ‘fighter’ emoticon and my ‘stress positive tip’ is to eat a nourishing breakfast that is rich in fiber, protein and carbohydrates. I don’t eat breakfast at all, so I really should keep this one in mind.

The price tag on on this 25ml gem is R1,210. This may seem on the hefty side for a target area product. But, as always, if you are someone who really struggles with a certain area, it is a case of getting what you pay for. I can outright say, as someone who is always on the hunt for eye-care products, it is worth the splurge. Make It Rayne approved!
