L.O.V Cosmetics, the latest brand to be released by South African owned powerhouse, Cosmetix, hit shelves in December last year. And, while I may be late to the party, I am loving the range.

L.O.V Cosmetics

I received three products for blog review purposes; the LOViconyx Eyeshadow & Contouring Palette, The Forbidden Dramatic Volume Mascara and the Lip Affair Color & Care Lipstick in Christina’s Red.

The brand is stocked exclusively in Dis-Chem stores and contains a whopping 48+ products in all ranges from lips to eyes to face to brushes and nails.
The price range is slightly over the usual insanely affordable price point of the essence and CATRICE products but you are certainly paying for better value.

Firstly, the LOViconyx palette. Available in three shades to suit three different hair colours. The palettes all contain three merged shades which in themselves can be blended up make more than twenty other shades.

The shades contain a slight shimmer so I personally won’t use it for contouring. However the palest shade makes for a shiny subtle highlighter and the rest of the shades make a mean smokey eye.
The palette itself is quite weighty and seemingly great quality and includes a giant mirror. I don’t use the included make-up applicators that come with products but I can appreciate that this applicator has two different edges; one for creases and one for blending. I’m sure I’d appreciate that one day when I need to apply my eyeshadow but forgotten my brushes at home… Price  – R299.95

Seriaaaasly, this palette looks like a Dior!

Next up, the mascara. You have to take a minute and admire the gorgeous ombre design on the packaging.
Again, the packaging is weighty and of a great quality. The hourglass shape of the wand helps you achieve a perfectly volumised application without any smudging (obviously once the formula has already dried). I have always said that CATRICE is the ultimate maker of affordable mascaras and it seems that this sister brand may possibly be sneaking their way on in. Price – R189.95

And lastly, the lipstick in the shade Christina’s Red. I am really not a red person. but this really is a gorgeous deep and sultry fire engine red.
I love that this range in itself also contains a few matte shades. And, like the above products, the lipstick bullet is great quality and even has a magnetized lid. So no more nicking the heads of your lipstick!
The wear of the lipstick was bold and opaque and lasted around two hours before needing a touch-up.

Overall, this is a fantastic brand for us to have access to and it is making some serious waves overseas.
Next up I need to get my hands on the EVENelixir Serum Foundation and the DUAList 2in1 Powder Foundation. These look seriously amazing. I also played a bit with the brushes in store and mama needs to get her hands on those foundation brushes!

Have you purchased anything from L.O.V Cosmetics – what did you think?
