Let me just start this off by saying this is my absolute go-to foundation right now.

Secondly, its a 24 hour foundation. WHAT are you up to that you have your foundation on for 24 hours. You best not be sleeping in it, missy!

I feel like everyone and their granny has tried and (generally) loved this product. So I was checking it out at Edgars and oohing and aaahing over buying it when I decided that, what the hell, it was 30% off (taking it from R190 to R126) so why not.

I also tend to sit with new make-up for weeks before trying it (life of a beauty blogger, right) but I used this one the very next day. I used it once and immediately jumped onto all my social media accounts and raved about it.

I can’t say too much for the longevity of it and if it really holds true to the ’24 Hours’ because I have not worn it for 24 hours straight but what I personally love about it is that the colour is a perfect match for me AND it combats the uneven skin tone of my face.

It really does well on all skin types; I have normal to dry skin but the top area of my T-Zone can get a bit oily and this foundation seems to keep it pretty much at bay if I use a blotting or setting powder on top. I would suggest using a primer and setting powder if you have oily skin but I have not worn this for more than about six hours at a time, so you never know, maybe those two extras are actually not needed?

The bottle is a squeezy tube with a thiiiiiin nozzle! THANK YOU L’OREAL! Is there anything worse than applying too much foundation to your applicator and having to waste some? This is a much more product conscious packaging option.

I would call it a medium coverage foundation. Not even light to medium or medium to heavy coverage. Just a plain old great medium coverage with a creamy and blendable consistency due to the fact that it is 1/3 water. I would say that you should apply this with a sponge or blender as opposed to a foundation/blending brush but thats just my personal preference.

The L’Oreal website describes the formula to ‘hug the face shape’ and I really cannot think of a better description than that.

It also photographs REALLY well. You may not be able to tell from the below images and the crazy facials I am pulling (I was having a bad camera day alright) but there is no SPF flashback which is lekker as anything.

And I mean it photographs really well ON the skin… not in the tube…

Excuse the blatant selfies and the crooked liner – but how else to capture how perfectly a foundation works? You can see just how pale I am, yet the tone and blending is SPOT ON. I struggle with crazy dark under eye circles and the foundation is coverage enough that I only need to apply it and then one type of concealer. WHOOOOP.

And no I did not post a before picture for you to see what a difference it makes because there are PLENTY of photos of me with no make-up on this blog. And my brows were also not co-operating. So there.

Then a few technical things which you can find if you research this online:

  • A super gliding mattifying formula with a high water content for maximum comfort that lasts.
  • Contains Shine Defy Blotting Spheres that act like blotting paper to mimic makeup artist gesture
  • Instantly absorbs sweat and oil without disturbing color pigments.

The foundation has been put through a series of ‘torture tests’ that resulted in these showings: The foundation can be worn in water for up to 10 minutes, It can withstand a 30 minute sports session AND it can withstand heat up to 37 degrees Celsius. Which means you can wear it in the steamroom! Being as non-sporty as girl come, I can’t say whether this lives up to those expectations but, considering the fact that it has lived up to ALL the other expectations, I’d say they’re true claims.

So for the above points I do have to say that this product pretty much lives up to what le internet says it will do. It is a mattifying foundation, it does indeed help with blotting out oiliness as I said before and I have not noticed any colour changes in the least where the foundation blots up oil. So all in all a great product!

I would definitely go as far as to say this would be my foundation choice of 2015!
