I am not a make-up snob. Not at all. BUT when it comes to certain make-up items I prefer to stay rather than stray. So when it comes to mascaras I have three trusted tubes that I always use and they just happen to be from higher end brands.
Essence is known to be an affordable and local brand which has a few items that are amazing and a few items which I wouldn’t use again. Generally their products are great quality but you would need to reapply the item every two hours or so.

I never use their mascaras, but in my one international beauty swap I was sent this waterproof ‘Get Big Lashes Volume Boost’ mascara. I have been on the lookout for a waterproof mascara that is long lasting but that can be removed at the end of the day with make-up remover. And I mean a make-up remover that does not take your lashes along with it.

My verdict? I was SUPER impressed with the volumising magicness. As you can see in the pictures I am wearing the mascara with no eyelash primer and without having used an eyelash curler either. I get the same length and volume out of mascaras which cost four times the price. And that reminds me; the mascara was R61.95 last time I checked in store.

It was a tad bit smudgy on my bottom lashes but that could totally be down to my application technique.
So after all is said and done I removed my mascara at the end of a long day and lo and behold I did not struggle too much to remove said mascara. It took longer than when removing non-waterproof but overall I was very happy. I used a make-up removing wet-wipe followed by Garnier Micellar Water.
Overall, vair impressed with this cheapie and I would definitely repurchase it!

Have you tried this mascara before? Would you recommend any other mascaras from the Essence range?
